BIO

Book Bio A fan of beer since age eight, Mary Jane took her first swig of Schlitz perched upon her steel worker daddy’s knee. Mother cried when her baby left Philadelphia for Athens to pursue higher education at the University of Georgia. Whereas Mary Jane didn’t like grad school, she did fall in love with craft beer and her fun pizza parlor job managers who eventually started the famed Brick Store Pub an hour down the road in Decatur. Mary Jane earned her masters degree in Speech Communication and put it straight to work for her old pals on the floor of their Pub opening week (June 1997). As the 10th hired server and a regular, Mary Jane has witnessed the Brick Store’s huge success and the transformation of a sleepy southern town to an award winning city. Where Mary Jane touched many lives with her huge waitress smile, she continues to do so with the gift of her pen and spoken word. Love at the Pub is her first book.

Bio Mary Jane Mahan is an actor, speaker, and Amazon #1 best selling author of Love at the Pub: An Insider’s Guide to Craftsmanship, Conversation, and Community at the Brick Store Pub. She sparks imagination as the Chief Emotional Architect of MaryJaneBrain Productions.

A late bloomer, Mary Jane declared herself an artist at age 36 after lifting herself out of a job layoff, several failed Internet businesses, and near bankruptcy. Within eighteen months, she roared into her first lead film role (The Suicide Blogs), published a book on her world-renowned neighborhood pub, and reenergized her spokesperson roots to promote the evolutionary cosmetics company Authentic Beauty.

In a word, Mary Jane is essence, sought out for her magnetic energy and creative vision. Blessed with an abundance of emotional intelligence, the former pub waitress handles the dark and the light of characters, stories, and speeches with intuitive skill and humorous knack. Forgiveness, compassion, and self-healing are strong areas of her expertise.

A native Philadelphian, Mary Jane took root in the South while earning a masters degree in Speech Communication from the University of Georgia (1996). Soft pretzels and cheese steaks gave way to nutritionally dense vegetarian fare accented by a life of spirituality, singing in the shower, and cozying with her three lazy house cats. A life-long athlete and former rugby player, Mary Jane is currently mastering makeup application and femininity.
